Muffins in a Pan!

I bought some muffin mix this week as a special "Christmas break" breakfast, but then realized my parents took their muffin tin with them on their camping trip! So after a few minutes of research, we had our alternate plan in place- using a sheet pan!

I mixed the muffin mix according to the package directions, but I set the oven at 10 degrees below what the package said.

I lined two sheet pans with parchment paper & spread out the muffin mix. I started with a ten minute timer but had to add a couple minutes to get a golden top over most of the pan.

After the muffins were out, I cut them into servings & gave the kids each a few for breakfast. Aaron tried one when he came home from work & said he prefers them this way. It was like having just the muffin tops, which is sometimes the best part anyway!

Some Christmas Fun

This is a post in pictures showing our Christmas fun so far!

Our town does a great job of decorating for Christmas!

The day after Thanksgiving, the kiddos decorated my mom's Christmas tree! It's short enough where all 3 could place ornaments on a variety of branches. I love capturing their faces in the glow of the lights & with the joy of the season.

Lucy, our girl elf, didn't come with a skirt so I made one out of a napkin. It didn't last long, but Avery was impressed with it while it lasted.

I brought my little wooden German tree to my classroom since I don't have a place to set it up at home. It added just the right amount of Christmas flair.

While shopping in Target, I came across a roll of wrapping paper with sign language! I grabbed it (since sign language holds a special place in my heart) and I also snagged one for my sister-in-law's sister who is completing her college degree in sign language interpretation!

I thought Avery's note to Santa was precious!

In her class, Avery made a Christmas countdown paper chain. She has enjoyed taking off a strip of paper each day.

Our original elf, Q.E., returned last Saturday morning and he brought his reindeer, Sam. All three kids love to cuddle Sam!

My mom is such a fantastic grandma and made homemade gingerbread cookies with the kids. Noah wasn't ready to decorate, but Michael and Avery took charge!

The kids have special dress-up days this week and one day was Christmas hat day!

As her last performance of the season, Avery had an outdoor performance downtown & I grabbed this photo of all three of my precious kiddos. I asked them ahead of time that I'd want a photo of them. This is equivalent to any Christmas gift they coild give. :) I love it so much!

Christmas Doodles

As I have some pockets of free time during exam week, I'll doodle a bit on my teacher desk calendar. Many of these are inspired by what I see online of other Christmas doodles. Here are some of my December drawings for this year.

Christmas Door Decor

On November 30th, my school had a door-decorating competition. My festive seniors from last year are making their way in the world and were not around to help me plan for door decor this year. We also were given much less notice of the door decorating contest this year, so I was working with a mostly apathetic crew and limited time.

We decided to go with an easy "Battle Plan" rendition from Home Alone. We printed off some quotes and images from the movie and drew Kevin's battle plan. We didn't win (didn't even receive recognition) but I knew my own kiddos would like it and that spurred me onward. I even made a last minute "Little Nero's pizza" with a printed label and an upside down school supply box.

Like I thought, my boys really liked it! Avery did too until she realized the pizza was fake, then she was upset which is why she's hiding behind Michael in this picture.

She did, however, really like my coworker's Chemistree. :)
