Sayings of my Children- Summer Edition

We're not quite halfway through summer and I'm loving every single minute of it! I figured it was time for another round of funny things my kids say.

Please enjoy.

When Michael had an endocrinology appointment, we popped into the gift shop really quickly to get a prize for him & something for his siblings. He saw a toy Mystery Machine as well as a DeLorean. Later, he described the DeLorean to his brother.
M: So I saw this car. It was kind of weird. It was silver and it could time travel. It was from this movie called Stuck in the Past or something.

(Why can I never win when Avery plays charades? Here are some examples of what she comes up with in her head)
-flamingo going potty
-monkey with wings digging for gold
-an orangutan who's had too much candy (this one I figured out!)
-a turtle fighting with another one

Avery: my bones are tired. Even my eyes are tired. From watching mermaids all day.
Me: Oh you watched mermaids today?
Avery: No.

(When discussing the land we're buying)
Avery: tell me the name of the land
Me: I'm not sure what you want me to say. Pasture. Forest.
Avery: I think it's disney land

Avery: I don't want to go to the garden
Me: Okay. We don't have a garden.
Avery: No, not that garden. Kindergarten!

Avery: what does that say?
Me: He counts the stars and calls them all by name
Avery: what are the names?
Me: I'm not sure
Avery: I think it's Twinkle or Shine. I like Twinkle

Avery: I am dirt and d. Dirty!

Avery: when I go on a field trip I'm going to bring Noah & Michael & we're going to go to the gip shop

Avery: is that butter?
Me: cream cheese.
Avery: cream cheese, oh. I can't read!
Me: you'll learn in school
Avery: but I can say stuff. Like school, math, class, homework, abcya(dot)com.

Avery: (After getting sick several times around midnight) I woke up with not being sick! God is the best God ever.

(While putting my hair in a bun)
Avery: oh wow! You look like Barbie's mom!

(After I cleared my throat)
Avery: is that a fake cough or real?
Me: It's real. My throat hurts
Avery: did you eat bugs?

(While Watching "Because of Winn Dixie")
Avery: This is your show. I didn't pick a show today.
Me: What about Soul?
Avery: That was my brain show. My brain wanted to watch Soul. Yes it did!

Avery: Mom, I'm going to wear my feet for a while before I put on my shoes.

Before taking Avery to a special event to hear Ariel read a story.
Avery: is it only Ariel?
Me: yep. This month the library is learning about the ocean and we know where Ariel's from....
Avery: Disney!

Avery: you've been always wanting to take a nap so I idea'd it.

(On our way to fish in a pond)
Michael: There's a really old well there. You'll recognize this type. Its like the type of well from when you were a girl. It's really cool. So you'll see it and you'll know exactly what it is.
Me: do you think I had to get water from a well when I was a little girl?
Michael: Oh. Well I guess the well isn't that old.

(I didn't catch so many of the funny things Noah has said recently.  Lately, he's been super busy singing while playing imaginative games, and he's been very close to my side lots of the day. Tonight he told me I was "the best mom person ever" and it just melted my heart.  I'm very very pleased with how well my children are growing up and although I occasionally get a pang of a hurt heart at how fast they're completing this, I know it's what they're supposed to do.)

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I'm fully loving summer with them!  I love them so very very much!

Mid-June Recap

Our summer pace hasn't slowed down much.  We've stayed pretty busy after the boys returned from the beach.

We stopped by Bass Pro shops to check out the fish and the stuffed bear.

The boys have recently discovered a love of wiffle-ball when their cousins came down for a few days.

On Monday night we had tiny ice cream cups for dessert! A summer treat for sure!

On Tuesday we went to the library for a petting zoo which turned out to be three or four fenced areas all attached, so not much of a zoo or petting for that matter.  All the animals were set on eating, so it was kind of dangerous to actually try petting them. Overall, it was a bust.

However, the morning was redeemed with a trip inside the library!

That evening, we went fishing at a nearby pond to catch some brim.  I was amazed at how much Avery and my 4 year old nephew wanted to touch the worms!

Today we hung around the house.  After everyone finished dinner, we made some s'mores outside at the fire pit.

I'm so trying to enjoy these days and treasure the moments! I love summer with them so much.

A Few Girly Days

Last week, my parents took the boys on a beach trip and Avery & I stayed home. I worked on doctorate things during some of the day, and we always tried to go do something fun since it was just us girls!

On the day the boys left, I took Avery to get her next set of immunizations so that she would be all set for kindergarten. Afterwards, we wandered around downtown and got some ice cream.

The next day we grocery shopped and bought new fly swatters and dubbed ourselves the Swat Team.

Later that day she ate a Bomb Pop and also used it for blush.

We enjoyed some bubble blowing outside although it's been so HOT!

Later in the week, we got ready to go to a special event at our library where Ariel would read a story during Children's Story Time!  We prepared by getting an "Ocean Water" loaded tea from a nearby shop.

We made good time and got a parking space at the library and an actual seat inside! She loved it so much and even had her picture made with Ariel at the end of the story.

The next morning we prepared for the brothers to return by playing a few rounds of Hi-Ho-Cherry-O!

It was so much fun to spend a few days one on one with her!  I'm so very grateful that she's a girly girl and enjoys all things pink, purple, princess, and pretty! We bought a couple different type of bath bombs and she loved finding the surprises in those. We watched lots of Bluey and Barbie's Dreamhouse Adventure. It was fun to be enveloped in girly things for a few days!

Water Balloons!

Back in April I bought some Bunch-o-balloons for the boys' Easter baskets, and we ended up picking out a third pack so Avery could join in.

Last week on Thursday afternoon we put them to use! The Bunch-o-balloons made it so easy to fill! I will totally continue buying that brand! Each kid used a different color for every round. We saved a third set of balloons to do a final round later this summer.

We cooled off with some patriotic pops afterwards.

They had a blast! It was a great way to spend an afternoon!

I love summertime with them!

Summer Fun, So Far!

While I certainly meant to write more in May, it doesn't equate to the level of fun that we had as we closed out a school year and began another summer!  We love summertime so much and here's just a few snapshots of the fun we've been having lately!

Our town had a touch-a-truck celebration a few weekends ago.  Noah had a blast! Avery joined him for a few photos. Michael was present, but preferred to stay right by my side instead of venturing into the vehicles.

The next day, a local church had a food truck party to kick off their VBS! We made a quick stop at the ice cream truck.

During Michael's last art class of the year, the younger two and I wandered around our downtown and tried out a "new to us" drink place. We ordered a pink flamingo in honor of one of my best friends (whom we call "Flamingo"). I especially appreciated the mantra written on the cup!

An unexpected few days of rain finished out our school days, and Avery enjoyed getting to wear her rain boots and jump in muddy puddles like Peppa Pig!

My mom made a delicious low carb berry pie to ring in Memorial Day!

Yesterday, I took the kiddos to the art studio for its 15th birthday party. All three of them made these really cool water paint portraits. They each chose three colors and squirted them into a tub of water. The art studio associate then dipped a piece of thick paper into the water, and when she pulled it out, the paint design was on the side that was pressed into the water! How cool!  I love these so much. They express the personality of each of my kiddos so well.
(Avery's, Michael's, Noah's)

As I'm working on school work for myself at various points throughout the day, I try to do something fun with the kids to make sure their summer retains its relaxing atmosphere. This morning, we made a run to Krispy Kreme!

Oh these kids. I love them ever so much!
